As this week marks National Apprenticeship week – 10th – 16th February 2025 – we would like to take the opportunity to celebrate our Site Solutions Manager, Conor Thompson who has successfully completed his Level 5 Management Apprenticeship, achieving a distinction.
With the week focussed on celebrating the value, benefit and opportunity that apprentices bring, over the year’s Miller has, and continues to, embrace the opportunity to onboard apprentices at entry level each year, particularly in the welding and fabrication field, as well as upskill qualified staff, helping them to further reach their potential.
Conor has been with Miller for almost 15 years having started his career with us as a Fabricator Welder apprentice. Working his way up through the business to his current role as Miller’s Site Solution Manager, Conor has spent the last two years completing his leadership and development programme.
Delivered by Make UK – specialists in delivering next generation skills to the UK’s manufacturing industry – the programme was tailored to suit around the needs of our business, offering a practical and broad understanding of leadership and management techniques.
Speaking about his success in completing his apprenticeship, Conor said: “The content of the course was excellent, showcasing how the theory could very easily be applied in a real-world working situation in the industry that Miller operates in.
“Miller is committed to continuous development of staff – no matter what age you are or level you are at – and I am extremely grateful to the company for giving me this opportunity to grow my skillset and become a better leader to support my team.”
Conor joins a raft of other employees – across all business areas – who have successfully completed their apprenticeships, many of whom also achieved distinctions.
