As a leading global attachment manufacturer, serving major OEM’s and OED’s, Miller is at the forefront of integrating emerging marketing trends with our innovative bucket and coupler solutions. That’s why we recognise the importance of nurturing talent through our intern programme to stay ahead in a constantly evolving industry.
Designed to give students exposure to the latest marketing strategies and market research, our intern programme allows students to work closely with current trends and technologies. We believe that by providing hands-on experience in these areas, we prepare the next generation of marketing leaders to succeed in an evolving field.
We have recently, welcomed a new Marketing Intern to the business, Joe Dickson. In the first month of his placement, we thought we would catch up with Joe to find out what he’s most excited about his placement.
Having already completed two years of his Business Management degree at Newcastle University, Joe enjoyed immersing himself in global marketing and market research projects which he is looking forward to putting into practice at Miller.
New Trends
Joe’s passion for new trends makes him eager to create content for Miller’s social media channels. With valuable experience from his previous job at Bodega Bagels, where he directed multiple TikTok videos, Joe is well-prepared to bring transferable skills from this experience providing fresh and engaging ideas to the team.
Whilst he is familiar with marketing concepts, Joe is keen to learn about applying these in the construction industry. He said: “I am most excited to apply my creative skills to a new field. The construction industry offers unique opportunities that I’m eager to explore. I’m looking forward to collaborating with the team at Miller to develop new campaigns that not only showcase our projects but also engage with our customers.”
Exhibition Planning
Having expressed interest in assisting Miller with global exhibition planning, Joe sees an opportunity to incorporate innovative technologies like virtual reality and AI at exhibitions, drawing inspiration from successful VR campaigns like Red Bull’s VR Extreme Sports and Ford’s VR Test Drive. With the increasing popularity of virtual reality technology, around 43% of companies within the construction industry believe this will be a mainstream feature of their business in the next few years. He said: “I hope to provide a different view on exhibition planning, potentiality integrating new technologies like virtual reality and AI to create an immersive customer experience with our products.” Joe thinks there is opportunity to implement similar concepts at Miller, by enabling us to show our design and manufacturing processes on stand, helping to demonstrate our mission of driving efficiency and sustainability in all areas of the business.
Sustainability
Excited about emerging green marketing trends, Joe hopes to cater for the growing awareness of sustainability within the construction industry by exploring the environmental effects of Miller’s attachments. He said: “I’ve already learnt a lot about Miller’s attachments during my first month, I think by highlighting the benefits of using our attachments, such as reducing fuel consumption with our GT Series, we can help our customers with their own environmental stewardship.”
In his spare time, Joe enjoys going to the gym and playing rugby with his university team. As such, Joe has already joined Miller’s Health Advocate team and has been sharing his ideas on promoting healthy living in the workplace as Miller continues to retain our ‘Maintaining Excellence’ standard in the Better Health at Work Award.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish Joe the very best of luck for the rest of his placement with Miller.
