We pride ourselves on having a strong aftersales service team that specialises in supporting our customers with repairs and maintenance. With fast response times and quick turnaround of project deliveries, it is important that we have the very best people with a wealth of expertise in the field and continue to develop their skillset.

As such, we are delighted to announce the promotion of Stuart Dunn, who has been promoted to Interim Site and Field Supervisor from Welder/Fabricator, which plays a strategic role in further strengthening our aftersales support.

Bringing extensive experience, Stuart’s introduction to the industry began after leaving school, where he embarked on a four-year welding and fabrication apprenticeship in the Marine sector. This experience not only equipped him with technical expertise but also opened doors to opportunities across the globe, including the UK, the USA, and Africa.

A Diverse Career in Mining

After completing his apprenticeship, Stuart transitioned to the opencast mining industry, working across various sites in the UK for major companies, including the likes of UK Coal and Banks Mining. His expertise soon gained global recognition, leading to his appointment as an Expat Heavy Mining Equipment Welding Supervisor for a prominent gold mining company in Egypt.

During his six years in Egypt, Stuart enjoyed training a local team of welders, ensuring compliance with safety and manufacturing standards, such as 3G and 4G welding positions. His passion for knowledge-sharing continued with a subsequent two-year assignment in Saudi Arabia, where he supervised a phosphate mining project before joining Miller in April 2024.

Reflecting on his experiences, Stuart said: “Aside from enjoying BBQs and snorkelling in the Red Sea, I loved meeting people from different cultures, passing on my knowledge, and learning from others as well.”

New Opportunities

As Site and Field Supervisor at Miller, Stuart will oversee repairs on customers’ equipment, focusing on minimising downtime and ensuring machinery is operational with a quick turnaround. His experience in site repairs makes him a natural fit for this role, which he views as an exciting step in his career progression with Miller.

Stuart said: “I thrive on the challenge of getting equipment up and running for our customers. Miller prides itself on having some of the best aftersales support in the market and I’m excited to be a part of it by leveraging my experience and stepping into a leadership position within the industry.”

While Stuart brings a wealth of experience to his new role, he recognises the importance of continuous learning and professional development. He plans to put his previous leadership training to good use at Miller and is also preparing to update several UK safety courses.

With safety and quality at the forefront of everything we do at Miller, we’re sure Stuart will be successful in his new role. Congratulations, Stuart and best of luck!
